Custom Claude Skills That Already Know the Brief
Most teams use Claude the same way every day. Paste the brand guide, explain the format again, fix the same mistakes, repeat. I turn that routine into a custom Claude skill your team calls by name, with your voice, structure, keyword rules and quality checks written in, so the first draft comes back much closer to final.
- 15+ custom skills in daily use
- 10+ years in search and content
- Built for Claude.ai, Claude Code & API

What Are Claude Skills, and Why Build Custom Ones?
A Claude skill is a folder of instructions, reference files and optional scripts that teaches Claude how to do one specific job your way. A custom Claude skill holds your rules, so nobody on your team has to type them into a chat again.
Anthropic introduced Agent Skills in late 2025 and later published the format as an open standard. The same skill format now runs across Claude.ai, Claude Code, the Claude Agent SDK and the Claude API (Anthropic).
Anthropic also ships pre-built skills for Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF files. They handle file formats well and know nothing about your business. Your brand voice, your client list, your banned phrases and the way your team structures a comparison page are where a skill earns its keep, and that is the part nobody can download.
Why Saved Prompts Stop Working as Content Volume Grows
The hidden cost of AI content production is the re-briefing tax. Every new chat starts blank, and the rules that matter most get lost first.
The Brief Gets Pasted Again
Someone copies the brand guide, restates the word count and reminds Claude about the heading rules. Then they spend twenty minutes fixing what got missed anyway.
Output Depends on Who Prompted
Two writers with two slightly different prompts get two different drafts. Your editor ends up enforcing the style guide by hand, one draft at a time.
A New Rule Lives in Ten Places
When the brand updates its positioning or a link moves, every saved prompt and project needs the same edit. Some never get it, and old rules keep showing up in new drafts.
| Saved prompt | Claude Project | Custom Claude skill | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Where the rules live | A doc someone copies from | Project instructions and files | One versioned SKILL.md with its own reference files |
| When it applies | When someone remembers to paste it | Only inside that project | Whenever a request matches its description |
| Multi-step work | Rarely; long prompts get fragile | Partly | Research, draft, check and format in one run |
| Consistency across writers | Depends on who pasted what | Better | The same rules for everyone who calls it |
| Changing a rule | Edit every copy | Edit each project | Edit one file and ship a new version |
Prompts and Projects still have their place for one-off work. A skill is the better fit once the same task runs every week, through more than one pair of hands.
My Claude Skill Development Services
Each engagement ends with working skills your team can run the same day, plus the documentation to maintain them without me.
Custom Content Writing Skills
Skills for the formats you publish most: pillar blogs, comparison pages, FAQ posts, news reactions, press releases, landing page copy and guest posts. Each one knows its own word range, section order and closing pattern, so a comparison post never comes back shaped like a listicle.
SEO, AEO and GEO Rules Built Into Every Skill
Keyword placement counted by section, headings that carry the query, answer-first paragraphs AI Overviews can lift, FAQ blocks paired with schema and named sources. Search requirements land in the first draft instead of a cleanup pass. It is the same method behind my LLM-Native Content work.
Brand Voice and Editorial Guardrails
Your spelling variant, sentence length limits, readability target, banned phrases, punctuation rules and claim-sourcing policy, written as instructions Claude can follow and check its own draft against before handing anything back.
Skill Libraries That Route Requests Correctly
Once a team has five or more skills, the descriptions start competing. I write and test them so a news headline reaches the news skill, a "vs" title reaches the comparison skill and a pillar topic reaches the blog writer, with clear hand-off lines between them.
E-commerce and Marketplace Listing Skills
Amazon and Flipkart listing writers that respect character limits, product description skills, and conversion skills that move listing data from one marketplace template to another with every field, tab and hidden column intact.
Claude Skill Audits and Rebuilds
For skills that misfire, produce uneven drafts or have grown into a 900-line SKILL.md nobody wants to touch. I trace where the output drifts, move reference material out of the main file and tighten the trigger description.
Packaging for Claude.ai, Claude Code and Team Plans
Each place Claude runs installs skills separately. I package and test every skill for wherever your team actually works, whether that is individual Claude.ai accounts, an organization-wide Team or Enterprise rollout, or Claude Code plugins.
Handover, Documentation and Training
A one-page guide for each skill covering when to call it, what to feed it and how to change a rule safely, plus a live walkthrough with the people who will run it every day.
Custom Claude Skills Already Running in Production
These skills are in daily use by real content teams, including my own. Most of them started as a brief someone was tired of retyping.
| Skill | Built for | What it handles |
|---|---|---|
| blog-writerv3.1 | Pinnasys | Pillar and thought-leadership posts in house style, with section image prompts and a deliverables pack: meta tags, slug, keyword map and schema |
| comparison-blog-writer | Pinnasys | "A vs B" decision guides scored head to head on shared criteria, never two feature lists stacked together |
| news-insights-writer | Pinnasys | 1,500 to 2,000-word reactions to fresh developments, with named, sourced authorities and a timeline where it helps |
| industry-blog-writer | Pinnasys | One AI service applied to one approved industry, opening with a snapshot of that industry |
| pr-writer | Pinnasys | Press releases with dateline, quotes and boilerplate, followed by an FAQ section with schema |
| guest-post-writer | Pinnasys | Content for LinkedIn, Dev.to, Reddit, Medium, HackerNoon and six more platforms, checking each platform's current rules before drafting |
| interlinking | Pinnasys | Internal links pulled only from a maintained URL registry, so no guessed or outdated slug reaches a live page |
| blog-image-prompts | Pinnasys | One 16:9 visual prompt per H2, asking which brand color family to use before writing any of them |
| blog-writer | Maple Clothing | Ethnic wear articles held to a Grade 8 readability target and strict sentence length limits |
| amazon-listing-writer | Maple Clothing | Amazon bullets, descriptions and search keywords inside Amazon's character and byte limits |
| listing-converter | D2C marketplace seller | Moves Amazon Canada listings into the Australia format, carrying every tab, row and hidden column across |
One library, one system. The Pinnasys set is eleven skills sharing a single house style and one link registry. Each description names the formats it must hand to another skill, so a writer pastes a headline and the right skill picks it up. Read more on the Clients page.
What Goes Into a Custom Claude Skill
A well-built skill is short at the top and deep underneath. The main file tells Claude what to do and in what order. Everything heavy sits in files Claude opens only when the task calls for them.
The Trigger Description
One paragraph that names the job, the phrases that should call it and the jobs it must leave to other skills.
The Workflow
Intake questions, research steps, section order, writing rules and a final self-check, written as steps Claude follows in order.
Reference Files
Style guide, keyword map, internal link registry, approved sources and two or three examples you would publish as they are.
Scripts Where Judgment Isn't Needed
Word counts, keyword placement checks, spreadsheet transforms and file conversions run as code, so Claude spends its attention on the writing.
The Deliverables Format
What comes back and in what shape: the draft, meta title and description, slug, schema, image prompts or a filled spreadsheet.
Version Notes
A short record of what changed in each version, so your team knows which drafts were written under which rules.
Claude Skills for Content, SEO and E-commerce Teams
The best tasks to turn into a skill are the ones your team does every week, through more than one person, under rules that rarely change.
In-House Content Teams
Blog and landing page drafts that follow one structure, whichever writer runs them.
SEO and Content Agencies
A separate skill for each client's voice, so a new writer produces on-brand drafts in week one instead of month two.
B2B, SaaS and AI Companies
Technical explainers, comparison pages, press releases and guest posts that hold up in front of a technical reader.
E-commerce and D2C Brands
Product descriptions, Amazon and Flipkart listings, and bulk conversions between marketplace templates.
Founders and Consultants
LinkedIn posts, case study write-ups and proposal drafts in a voice people already know as yours.
Teams With an Existing Skill Library
Audits for skills that trigger at the wrong time, drift from the style guide or have grown too long to maintain.
How I Build Custom Claude Skills, Step by Step
Writing the SKILL.md is the short part. Most of the work happens before it: pulling the unwritten rules out of how your best people already work.
- 01
Workflow Teardown
We walk through how the task gets done today. I ask for three to five pieces you would publish again and two that went wrong, because the failures show the rules nobody wrote down.
- 02
Rule Extraction
I turn editorial judgment into instructions Claude can act on and separate hard requirements from preferences. "Sound professional" becomes a banned-phrase list, a sentence length limit and an example paragraph.
- 03
Build and Trigger Tuning
I write the SKILL.md, the reference files and any scripts, then test the description against prompts that should call the skill and prompts that should not.
- 04
Testing on Live Briefs
The skill runs on your real upcoming work. I compare its drafts with what your editor would have shipped and fix every drift I can trace. Nothing goes live until you sign off.
- 05
Handover and Versioning
Your team gets the installed skill, a one-page guide and a walkthrough. Every later change ships as a numbered version with a note on what changed.
Is a Claude Skill Builder Right for Your Team?
A skill pays off when the work repeats. If yours doesn't yet, I will tell you so on the first call.
A good fit if
- Your team already uses Claude on a Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise plan, or is ready to
- You publish the same formats every week and quality varies by who wrote the prompt
- You have a style guide, even if it mostly lives in one editor's head
- Your editor spends more time fixing AI drafts than it would take to write the rules down once
Probably not yet if
- You publish a few pieces a month and each one is a different format
- You need custom software, a website chatbot or an API integration into your product. That is engineering work, and I will point you to the right people
- You want a skill to replace editorial review. A skill gets the draft closer to final; a person still decides what ships
Why Have an SEO and AEO Consultant Build Your Claude Skills
A developer can build a skill that runs. A skill that produces content worth publishing needs someone who has edited thousands of drafts and knows which mistakes cost rankings and citations.
The Rules Come From Ten Years of Editorial Work
I have spent about a decade writing and editing search content for B2B, e-commerce and real estate brands. When I write a rule into a skill, it is one I have already enforced by hand on a client deliverable.
Search Visibility Is Part of the First Draft
Every content skill I build carries Answer Engine Optimization structure, entity clarity for Generative Engine Optimization and counted keyword placement. Drafts come out ready for Google and for AI answer engines, the same standard I hold my own site to.
I Run These Skills on My Own Businesses
The skills behind TheLikharis client work and the Worth Having Products listings run through my own hands every week. When a skill starts to drift, I usually notice before a client does.
I Maintain Every Skill I Build
The Pinnasys blog writer has moved through several versions as the brand's playbook and search behavior changed. You work with me directly through every revision, with no account manager in between.

What Does a Claude Skill Builder Do?
A Claude skill builder turns a repeated task into a reusable Claude skill. That means documenting how your team does the work, writing the SKILL.md instructions and reference files, testing the skill on real briefs and handing it over with documentation. The goal is output that needs light edits instead of rewrites.
How Are Custom Claude Skills Different From Prompts or Claude Projects?
A prompt is pasted each time, and a Project applies only inside its own workspace. A custom Claude skill loads whenever a request matches its description, carries its own reference files and runs multi-step workflows. Your rules live in one versioned file instead of scattered copies.
Which Claude Plans Support Custom Skills?
Custom skills are available on Claude Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans, with code execution turned on. On Team and Enterprise plans, admins can make skills available across the whole organization. Plan details change, so I confirm what your plan supports before we start.
Do Claude Skills Work in Claude Code and the Claude API?
Yes. The same skill format runs in Claude.ai, Claude Code, the Claude Agent SDK and the Claude API. Each one installs skills separately, so I package and test every skill for the places your team actually works.
How Long Does It Take to Build a Custom Claude Skill?
It depends on how many formats and rules are involved. After the scoping call you get a fixed delivery date for the first skill, with testing on live briefs included. A library of related skills takes longer, mostly because the trigger descriptions have to be tested against each other.
Can a Claude Skill Write in My Brand Voice?
Yes, once the voice is written down precisely. I turn your guidelines and best published pieces into concrete rules: word choices, banned phrases, sentence length, spelling variant and example paragraphs. Vague direction such as "friendly but expert" is replaced with instructions Claude can check its own draft against.
Can You Fix a Claude Skill We Already Built?
Yes. An audit is a common starting point. I check how the description triggers, how long the main file has grown and where drafts drift from the rules, then restructure the skill and test it again on your real work.
How Many Claude Skills Does a Content Team Need?
One per distinct format is a sensible rule. A team publishing blogs, comparison pages and landing pages usually needs three content skills, plus a shared interlinking or image prompt skill. A few focused skills work better than one giant skill that tries to cover everything.
Is Our Brand Information Safe Inside a Skill?
A skill holds only what you put in it. I keep passwords, API keys and customer data out of skill files, and install skills only from sources your team controls. Anthropic also advises using skills only from trusted sources, because a skill can direct what Claude does.
How Much Does a Custom Claude Skill Cost?
It depends on the number of skills, how detailed your rules are and whether scripts or marketplace files are involved. After a free scoping call, I send a written proposal with the scope, delivery dates and cost spelled out.
What Do You Need From Us to Get Started?
Your style guide or brand notes, three to five published pieces you are proud of, two that missed the mark, and 45 minutes with the person who edits the work today. That is enough to scope the first skill.
Ready to Stop Re-Briefing Claude Every Morning?
Send me the one task your team explains to Claude most often. On a free scoping call, I'll show you how it would work as a custom Claude skill, what the skill needs to know, and what the first draft should look like once it is built.
