Generative Engine Optimization Services That Get Your Brand Named in AI Answers
When a buyer asks ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google’s AI Overviews who to trust, the model writes one answer and names a handful of brands. My GEO services make sure yours is one of them, and that what the model says about you is correct.
- 500+ pages cited in AI Overviews
- 10+ years in search
- 150+ projects delivered
What’s the best project management tool for a 20-person agency?
For a team that size, three tools come up most often:
- Your brand, praised for client portals and flat pricing per seat.1
- Competitor A, strong on reporting but costlier as teams grow.2
- Competitor B, a simpler option for smaller teams.3

What Is Generative Engine Optimization (GEO)?
generative engine optimization (GEO)
The practice of shaping how large language models find, understand and cite your brand when they write an answer. It works on three things: how clearly your brand is defined as an entity, how easily your content can be retrieved and quoted, and how often credible sources mention you.
A search engine ranks pages. A generative engine reads several pages, decides which claims it believes, and writes something new from them. Your page can sit on page one of Google and still be left out of that answer, because the model found a cleaner explanation somewhere else or never connected your name to the topic.
GEO closes that gap. It is built on top of solid SEO, not in place of it. The pages that AI engines quote are usually pages that were already indexed, crawlable and trusted.
Why Strong Rankings No Longer Guarantee AI Search Visibility
Most brands I audit have one of these four problems. Each has a specific cause, and each can be fixed.
“We rank, but the AI recommends our competitor.”
The model pulls from sources that state facts plainly. If your answer is buried under three paragraphs of brand copy, a rival’s cleaner page gets quoted instead.
“The AI gets our details wrong.”
Old pricing, a service you dropped two years ago, the wrong city. This usually traces back to outdated directory listings, old press coverage or conflicting information on your own site.
“We have no idea what ChatGPT says about us.”
Search Console doesn’t report it and most analytics setups don’t separate AI referrals. If nobody is checking, nobody knows what buyers are being told.
“Impressions hold steady, but clicks keep dropping.”
The question is being answered on the results page or inside a chat window. If your brand isn’t named in that answer, the visit never happens.
My Generative Engine Optimization Services
Every GEO engagement is built from the pieces below. You won’t need all of them on day one. The audit decides what comes first.
AI Visibility Baseline and Prompt Mapping
I build a prompt set from the questions your buyers actually ask, taken from sales calls, support tickets and comparison searches, not a keyword list. I run it across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Copilot and Google AI Overviews and record who gets named, in what order, and which URLs get cited. That becomes your baseline.
Entity Optimization and Knowledge Graph Alignment
A model has to know what your brand is before it can recommend it. I align your name, services, people, locations and category across your website, Google Business Profile, LinkedIn, Crunchbase, industry directories and Wikidata where you qualify. Then I tie it together with Organization, Person and Service schema linked through sameAs.
Citation-Ready Content Restructuring
I rewrite priority pages so each section opens with a self-contained answer a model can lift without losing meaning. That means specific numbers, named methods, dates, definitions and comparison tables. It does not mean stuffing keywords into headings.
Structured Data for Generative Retrieval
Schema that describes relationships, not just page types. Service, FAQPage, Product, HowTo, Review and Article with a real author, nested correctly and matching what’s visible on the page. Every block is validated before it goes live.
Third-Party Mentions and Source Building
LLMs put weight on what other people say about you. I find the sources AI engines already cite in your category, such as review platforms, trade publications, comparison articles and Reddit threads. Then we build a plan to earn a place there through expert input, original data and genuine reviews.
Technical Access for AI Crawlers
If a crawler can’t read your page, nothing else on this list matters. I check robots.txt and firewall rules for GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot, ClaudeBot and Google-Extended. I also confirm key content renders server-side and set up llms.txt where it’s useful.
AI Answer Accuracy Correction
When a model repeats something wrong about your business, I trace where it came from. The fix happens at the source: an outdated page, a stale directory listing or an old article, so the correction holds instead of reappearing next month.
Citation Tracking and Share of Voice Reporting
Each month the prompt set runs again. You see your mention rate and citation share on each engine against named competitors, which pages earned citations, and what changed since the last report.
GEO vs SEO vs AEO: Where Generative Engine Optimization Fits
These aren’t competing choices. SEO gets you indexed and ranked, AEO gets your answer extracted, and GEO gets your brand chosen and named when an AI writes its own response.
| Aspect | SEO | AEO | GEO |
|---|---|---|---|
| Main goal | Rank pages in organic results | Own the direct answer to a question | Get named and cited in AI-written answers |
| Where it shows up | Google and Bing results pages | Featured snippets, People Also Ask, voice, AI Overviews | ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, AI Overviews and AI Mode |
| What the engine does with your page | Ranks it and links to it | Lifts a passage as the answer | Combines it with other sources and decides which brands to mention |
| Signals that matter most | Relevance, links, technical health | Question-led structure, short direct answers | Entity clarity, mentions across the web, citable facts, crawler access |
| How success is measured | Rankings, clicks, conversions | Snippet and answer-box ownership | Mention rate, citation share, answer accuracy, AI referral traffic |
If you want to win the answer box first, start with Answer Engine Optimization. The two work best side by side.
My GEO Process, From First Audit to Ongoing Citations
The order matters. Fixing content before crawlers can read it, or building mentions before your entity is consistent, wastes months.
- Week 1
Discovery and prompt set
We talk through your buyers, the objections your sales team hears and the competitors you lose to. From that I build 50 to 150 prompts covering early research, comparison and ready-to-buy questions.
- Weeks 1 to 2
AI visibility audit
I run every prompt across the major engines and log mentions, citations, position and accuracy. Alongside that, I audit crawler access, schema and entity consistency. You get a gap report showing where you stand and why.
- Week 2
Priority plan
A ranked list of fixes, weighed by effort against likely impact on citations. You see exactly what gets done first and the reasoning behind it.
- Weeks 2 to 4
Entity and technical fixes
Schema, sameAs links, profile cleanup, crawler permissions and rendering issues. This is the foundation everything else stands on.
- Weeks 3 to 8
Content restructuring
Priority pages rewritten to be quotable, plus new comparison pages, definitions and original data where you have it.
- Week 4 onward
Off-site source building
Earning presence on the review sites, publications and community threads the engines already trust in your category.
- Monthly
Measure, report, adjust
The prompt set runs again, results are compared with the baseline, and the next month’s work is planned around what moved.
Engines that search the web live, such as Perplexity and ChatGPT search, usually reflect changes first. What a model knows without searching only changes when it is retrained, which takes months.
AI Search Platforms My GEO Services Cover
Each engine finds and trusts sources a little differently, so the work is tuned per platform rather than applied as one checklist.
| Platform | Where it gets its sources | What I focus on |
|---|---|---|
| Google AI Overviews and AI Mode | Google’s own index; pages that already rank are frequent sources | SEO foundations, answer-first sections, schema |
| ChatGPT | Live web results through search partners and OpenAI’s own crawler, plus what the model learned in training | Bing indexing, OAI-SearchBot access, consistent entity data, mentions on widely read sites |
| Perplexity | Live retrieval on every query, with citations shown openly | Fresh, specific pages and crawler access |
| Gemini | Google’s index and Knowledge Graph | Knowledge Graph entity, Google Business Profile, structured data |
| Claude | Web search when enabled, training data otherwise | Authoritative third-party mentions, ClaudeBot access |
| Microsoft Copilot | Bing’s index | Bing Webmaster Tools, IndexNow, clean sitemaps |
Who Needs Generative Engine Optimization Services
GEO pays off fastest where buyers research before they ever fill in a form.
When GEO shouldn’t come first
If your site has indexing problems, thin content or serious technical SEO issues, those need fixing before GEO will work. I’ll tell you that on the first call rather than sell you something that can’t deliver yet.
B2B SaaS and AI companies
Buyers build vendor shortlists by asking ChatGPT for the best tool for a specific job. If you aren’t named, you aren’t evaluated.
E-commerce brands
AI shopping assistants now compare products, prices and reviews before a person lands on your store.
Real estate agents, brokerages and title companies
Buyers ask AI about neighborhoods, prices and closing costs long before they call an agent.
Legal, finance, insurance and healthcare
In these categories, AI engines are cautious about who they name. Trust signals and accurate facts decide who makes the cut.
IT, manufacturing and logistics firms
Long, technical buying cycles mean buyers lean on AI to summarise options and capabilities.
Why Work With Me as Your GEO Consultant
You work with me directly
No account manager passing messages along. The person who audits your site is the person who does the work.
I write and fix, not just advise
A decade of content writing and technical SEO means the diagnosis and the execution come from the same place. You don’t get a 60-page report to hand to someone else.
Proof already sitting in AI Overviews
More than 500 pages I’ve worked on are cited in Google’s AI Overviews, across B2B AI, e-commerce, real estate and web hosting.
I build with these models every day
I design custom Claude skills and AI content workflows for clients, so I see how language models read, weigh and reuse text from the inside.
Range across industries
From AI development and title insurance to hosting, travel and apparel, the work adapts to how each category’s buyers research.
Reporting you can check
You get the actual prompts, the actual answers and the actual citations. No black-box “AI visibility score” you have to take on faith.
How GEO Results Are Measured
AI answers change from one run to the next, so each prompt is run several times and reported as a rate, not a single screenshot.
- Brand mention rate
- The share of tracked prompts where your brand is named
- Citation share
- How often your URLs are cited as a source compared with competitors
- Position in the answer
- Whether you’re named first or listed fourth
- Answer accuracy
- Whether your services, pricing and locations are stated correctly
- Framing
- Whether you’re recommended outright, listed neutrally or mentioned with caveats
- AI referral traffic
- Sessions from chatgpt.com, perplexity.ai, gemini.google.com and Copilot, tracked in GA4
- Branded search lift
- Growth in searches for your brand name in Google Search Console

What are generative engine optimization services?
Generative engine optimization services improve how AI platforms like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews describe and cite your brand. The work covers entity consistency, content structure, schema, crawler access and third-party mentions, followed by ongoing tracking of how often you’re named.
How is generative engine optimization different from SEO?
SEO earns rankings on a results page. GEO earns a place inside the answer an AI writes. SEO leans on relevance and links; GEO adds entity clarity, citable facts and mentions on sources the models trust. GEO depends on good SEO, so the two run together.
How long does GEO take to show results?
On engines that search live, such as Perplexity and ChatGPT search, changes can show within 6 to 12 weeks. A consistent share of mentions across platforms usually takes 4 to 6 months. Site authority and how crowded your category is both affect the timeline.
Can you guarantee my brand will be cited by ChatGPT?
No, and anyone who promises that is guessing. AI engines decide their own sources. What I can do is remove the reasons you’re being left out and track the results openly, so you can see whether the work is moving your mention rate.
Do I need GEO if I already rank well on Google?
Ranking well helps, since AI Overviews often draw from top-ranking pages. But ChatGPT, Perplexity and Claude use different signals. Many well-ranked brands are still missing from AI answers, or are described inaccurately. A GEO audit shows whether that’s happening to you.
What does a GEO audit include?
A prompt-based test across the major AI engines, a log of who gets named and cited, an accuracy check on what’s said about you, and reviews of your schema, crawler access and entity data. It ends with a prioritised list of fixes.
Does GEO work for local businesses?
Yes. People now ask AI tools for the best agent, clinic or lawyer in a specific area. For local brands, GEO focuses on Google Business Profile, consistent listings, reviews and location pages that answer local questions clearly.
Do I need an llms.txt file for GEO?
It’s worth having, since it takes little effort and can help some AI tools read your site. It isn’t a confirmed ranking signal for any major engine, though. Crawler access, entity data and content structure matter far more.
